The shortest night of the year- photoshoot from my neighbourhood

I live in the most beautiful place of Estonia, Viimsi- penninsula in Finnish Gulf. Today is a very special day I would like to share with you.

Estonians, like many other nations, celebrate the shortest night of the year. We make fire, eat and drink a lot and the night is really short- the sun sets about 10.45 PM and rises at 4 AM again. And its not dark meantime.
At 10.PM it was like daytime:

At 11.PM we went out to see bonfires in our neighbourhood. The sea was absolutely scilent and the sun had painted both the sea and the sky red in the most beautiful patterns:

The old town of Tallin is about 10 km from here:

some people were sailing

and a majestic swan sliding between the rocks:

These photos are made within 5 minutes, but you can see, how different those are- if you look at the north-west, the sea is red, its foggy blue in the south and as clear as daytime in between (the picture with a sailing ship)

Now its 00.20 and you can see bonfires everywhere along the coast:

At 3.AM it was possible to read a book without turning lights on:

And this is it- from now on every night turns a bit longer an every day a bit shorter up to Christmas, which is winter solstice and we have a good reason to celebrate again:)
